Ealing councilors who want to go to Westminster – EALING.NEWS – The voice of Ealing 7 cities

With the general election set for 4 July 2024, a number of current Ealing councilors are seeking to become members of parliament and are campaigning to win over voters in several constituencies across the UK.

Labor councilor for South Acton, Callum Anderson, will challenge Buckingham & Bletchley. It is not the first time for Councilor Anderson, he previously contested the 2019 election for the South West Bedfordshire seat.

Before being selected for Buckingham & Bletchley, he also ran in 2022 to be selected as a candidate for Stevenage, but was not elected.

After calling the 2024 general election, Councilor Anderson told X: “Each and every one of us deserves better than the last 14 years. Only Labor will deliver the change we need. Buckingham & Bletchley has an essential role to play in helping to make history. I can’t wait to make the case.”

Labor councilor for Hanwell Broadway, Monica Hamidi will contest the seat for Wokingham in Berkshire. Announcing her selection, Councilor Hamidi posted on X: “I am delighted and honored to announce that I have been selected as @UKLabour Parliamentary Candidate for Wokingham. My promise as a local voice is to stand up for our communities, fight for what is right and participate in making the change this country needs.”

Claire Tighe, fellow Labor councilor for North Hanwell, has been selected as the candidate for Spelthorne in Surrey.

In the Ealing Conservatives, Gregory Stafford, who currently represents the Hanger Hill ward, will contest Farnham & Bordon. He hopes to follow in the footsteps of his brother Alexander Stafford, a former councilor for Ealing Broadway who is now MP for Rother Valley.

When he was announced as the Conservative candidate on 30 August 2023, Councilor Stafford posted on X: “Truly honored to be selected as the @Conservatives candidate for #Farnham & #Bordon. With strong links to this seat, I am excited to bring about positive change through my experience in health, local government and charities. You are ready to campaign hard for the locals and earn their trust!”
