The production version of the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 makes its first appearance

There’s a special kind of thrill when you see something go from concept to reality. In 2021, Royal Enfield showed up at EICMA, the biggest international motorcycle event of the year, to showcase its latest creation. Known as the SG650, the prototype did what good prototypes tend to do: it got people talking.

It was a promising debut. It quickly became clear that the SG650 was not so much the kind of prototype that just graces posters, but the kind of prototype that gets a frame and an engine and starts to interest riders.

India is a vast place full of bikers who are passionate about bikes and have a special place in their hearts for Royal Enfield. So it was no surprise when reports of the SG650 being tested on public roads started to emerge in 2022 and 2023.

Fast forward to the annual Royal Enfield Motoverse event in Goa in November 2023, where the brand launched its first production version of the Shotgun 650 to the public. Based on the Super Meteor 650, the Shotgun 650 is a bobber at heart. But according to Royal Enfield, it’s even more than that.

Although the Shotgun 650 is equipped with a single bobber-style seat, it can easily be converted to ride as a couple or carry luggage for trips as needed. For these reasons, Royal Enfield’s managing director described the Shotgun 650 as “a mutant” at the live presentation at Motoverse 2023.

The paint and graphics you see here are a Motoverse 2023 exclusive design, of which only 25 units will be manufactured and sold to Motoverse 2023 attendees.

Full specs have yet to be released, but it should be very similar to the Super Meteor 650 in terms of power. If you are interested in knowing more, you can visit the Royal Enfield website for information about the Shotgun 650.
