Sheffield Wednesday have handed manager Danny Röhl a new long-term contract after guiding them to Championship survival this season.

The 35-year-old – who is the league’s youngest ever manager – joined the Owls last October when they were bottom of the table and seven points from safety.

But a run of wins towards the end of the season saw them finish three points clear of the relegation zone.

Röhl has now signed a new deal at Hillsborough ahead of the 2024/25 season.

He said: “It was never in my mind to be anywhere but Hillsborough.

“I feel at home here, the fans have been incredible, they’ve shown me and my staff nothing but kindness from day one.

“I would like to thank the chairman for giving me this opportunity and now we are excited to look forward and plan the new season together.”

Owls chairman Dejphon Chansiri said: “I am delighted that Danny will continue his managerial journey with our club.

“The impact he had when he joined was immediate and was the foundation for keeping our place in the Championship.

“He created a special relationship with our supporters in the short time he was here and now that journey continues.”
