Trowbridge: I hope the street warden scheme will boost nightlife

The idea goes further than keeping the streets around bars and clubs safe.

It is also part of an ongoing investment plan which has seen millions of pounds spent trying to revitalize Trowbridge town centre.

Street wardens Sally and Dave have been patrolling Trowbridge town center for the past two weeks.

“My role is to check on vulnerable women and girls, but that also applies to all vulnerable people,” Sally said.

“I’m trained in conflict management and we give first aid.”

Dave, who also filled that role in Salisbury, said: “People see you and say, ‘You’re one of the keepers.’ We feel more relaxed and safe knowing you are here.”
