The councilor wants to become MP for Bradford South at the next general election

A BRADFORD councilor will stand to become an MP at the upcoming general election on July 4.

Tong Ward Councilor Matt Edwards is running as the Green Party candidate for the Bradford South constituency.

Cllr Edwards was first elected to Bradford Council in 2021 and was re-elected on May 2 this year.

He represents Tong Ward, which includes the communities of Bierley and Holme Wood, as well as Tong Village, Woodlands and Sutton Estate.

In 2022, as leader of the Green Group on Bradford Council, he was elected to be the political party’s national spokesperson.

Cllr Edwards said: “I am honored to have been chosen as the Green Party candidate for Bradford South.

“I love Bradford and I’m incredibly proud to represent the communities in the borough of Tong.”
