Copps is familiar with the event, having served as roaster at the 2004 dinner honoring John Crosbie. But this time, Copps will be roasting, all for a very good cause.

“I am excited to return to Cornwall to help the Children’s Treatment Center raise operating funds to provide counseling to victims of child abuse and their families,” Copps said in a statement provided by CTC.

CTC said that from his work on diversity and inclusion, to protecting the environment, to supporting young Canadians and women, “Hon. Sheila Copps has had a storied career and has left an indelible mark on Canadian public policy.”

The CTC release said that among Copps’ achievements were bringing what was the strongest federal environmental assessment legislation in the world, establishing Young Canada Works to provide annual summer jobs for young people, bringing copyright protection for Canadian recording artists and leading ministers of culture from over 50 nations in developing the first international network for cultural diversity.

The names of the dinner roasters will be announced at a later date.

The CTC finally got to have a dinner and roast for the first time in almost four years when, on June 2, Gatineau Archbishop Paul-André Durocher was in the hot seat for what was a big event success.

Adams, late that evening, told the gathering that they all had a role in making history.

“Tonight is a record, you helped raise $52,000 for the Children’s Treatment Center,” Adams said from the table podium in the Cabaret Room at the Best Western Parkway Inn.

This year’s roast will be a prime rib dinner and tickets for this event will be $125 per person.
