Leeds claimed to bring in ‘hungry’ USMNT striker after 16-goal season with PL ‘attitude’ behind

Leeds have been urged to look at 16-goal Norwich star Josh Sargent if he makes it to the Premier League, as the USMNT star has the “right attitude” to succeed in the top flight.

Sargent just had the best season of his professional career. The forward scored 16 goals in just 26 league appearances, along with two assists, helping Norwich reach the play-offs.

It directly follows his best previous season, in which he scored 13 goals and again had two assists.

He failed to get his side over the line and have a chance to return to the top flight at the end of this term.

Indeed, he and his Canaries team-mates struck in both legs of the play-off semi-final against Leeds and were punished in the second leg with the Whites blasting four goals past them.

But while Sargent will not be returning to the Premier League with Norwich – with whom he played top-flight football in 2021/22 – he could have the chance to return there himself.

Whether or not Leeds’ interest has been piqued by his performances against them this season, former Premier League player Sharpe has told them to take a look at signing him.

Indeed, the former White feels Sargent has the tools to succeed in the first place.

Leeds said to go after Sargent

“You have to have a bigger squad if you are going to stay in the Premier League and Sargent is a top player so he is one who can do well,” said Sharpe.

“He seems to have the right hunger and attitude so he will enjoy progressing to the Premier League.”

That hunger to return to the Premier League is evident from Sargent’s last two seasons.

After scoring just two goals in one season in England’s top flight, the forward scored north of 10 goals in the following two campaigns and of course helped Norwich to the play-offs this season.

If the trajectory remains upward, from 13th last season to sixth this term, Sargent could lead the Canaries into the top flight next campaign, as his goals have increased in both seasons as well. Of course, that will depend on him being there.

Leeds could heed their former player’s advice and bring the forward on board provided they beat Southampton in the play-off final and return to the Premier League after just one season away.

Sargent worked hard for PL’s return

Sargent is now more mature than the 22-year-old who last played in England’s top flight and cut his teeth in the second tier, probably finding it much easier to learn the style of play at home than he did -o when he fell in his place. at the deep end.

Although he has only scored two goals in the Premier League, both came in one game during a 3-0 thrashing of Watford, showing he has the ability to make an impact.

Having worked hard to reach a higher level in his own game, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he was given a chance at a higher level in general.
