Rohan Smith’s dismissive response to talk of Leeds Rhinos pressure after latest defeat

Leeds Rhinos boss Rohan Smith insists he has felt pressure throughout his coaching career amid further questions over his future following his side’s defeat to St Helens. The Rhinos were poor again as they were beaten 40-10 by an injury-ravaged St Helens side who lost Joe Batchelor early to injury.

It was another disappointing night for Leeds, who are out of the play-offs, approaching the halfway stage of the season and without a win against a side above the bottom four of Super League in nearly three months.

Smith’s post-match address to Sky Sports was brief, with the Aussie fielding just two questions after his fourth defeat in six matches. With Leeds supporters voicing their disapproval, Smith’s response was curt when asked if he was feeling pressure.

“I’ve felt pressure in every coaching job I’ve ever had. In my mind, nothing has changed.”

Regarding his team’s performance, Smith added: “It was a bad second half. Once the scoreboard went against us, we lost our touch defensively and made things worse.”
