1981 Murder of James ‘Jimmy’ Adams Apel, Bradford

Detectives from the Major Investigations Review Team are appealing for information about the murder of a man in Bradford in 1981.

James ‘Jimmy’ Adams, 46, was stabbed several times at the public toilets at the junction of Carlise Road and Bavaria Place on Tuesday 26 May 1981 at around 12.45pm.

James had left the New Beehive Inn, Westgate, in the city center shortly after midnight when he was followed along Carlise Road by a man we believe to be the suspect.

Witnesses heard screams coming from the public restrooms, then the suspect was seen running from the scene.

Three witnesses confronted the suspect at Malborough Garage, the suspect threatened them with a knife before running off.

James was taken to hospital with 22 stab wounds, later died from these injuries.
