Tesco shoppers share a little-known trick from the supermarket to get free products

Tesco shoppers have shared their approaches to getting cheaper deals. From opting for private label items to yellow-stickered products, there are many strategies we can use to reduce the cost of our weekly grocery haul.

However, savvy supermarket shoppers have reminded us all of a simple trick to bagging expensive items that could set you back £8 or £10 for absolutely nothing, especially when you shop at Tesco.

Social media users encourage fellow shoppers to always swipe their Clubcard at checkout and then examine their receipts. This is because your receipt may come with vouchers that entitle you to free items.

Posting to the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group, a user named Rose Hargeaves revealed that she recently received a voucher for a free box of Bold Platinum Cherry Blossom & Rose Water 2-in-1 capsules after paying for her groceries.

The laundry product normally retails for almost £8, but the voucher said the pods were completely free for a certain time, provided she used her Clubcard when she bought them. She claimed she received the voucher after completing a shop at a self-service checkout, although some people noted that the vouchers are not guaranteed and are distributed “randomly”.

Others have mentioned that they have never received physical vouchers but have had similar ones available on their Tesco Clubcard app, so it’s worth checking there for a grocery store too. It’s not just Bold products you can get for free, as these vouchers can be for a variety of items, according to fellow Tesco customers.

“A lady next to me got (a voucher) for Ariel,” Rose said. Cheryl Airzee replied: “I love these vouchers. So far I’ve had a free bottle of Fairy Laundry, Lenor Scent Boosters, three packs of sanitary towels, some Airwick refills and a dust trap for the blinds.
