Leeds United have been linked with a move to sign Manchester City attacking midfielder James McAtee and he could be Daniel Farke’s new answer to Emi Buendia.

Daniel Farke will be planning a busy summer regardless of Sunday’s result, with revisions likely to be needed after a win or a defeat at Wembley.

If Leeds are to be promoted, Leeds will need to spend big to improve in a number of areas, already linked with a few signings.

Leeds want James McAtee from Manchester City for £20m

A report from GiveMeSport this week relayed recent claims that Leeds are interested in signing Manchester City attacking midfielder James McAtee.

With Sheffield United back in the Championship, McAtee will play his football elsewhere and the Etihad giants are expected to listen to offers for the 21-year-old.

£20m is said to be the asking price for both Leeds and Southampton, with the play-off final sure to dictate who Man City field.

Playoff Final: Leeds United v Southampton predictions

Farke could have Emi Buendia 2.0 in the McAtee signing

Many will be looking at Leeds’ summer investment, however, knowing that an attacking midfielder with an eye for a killer pass is needed.

Too often this season, Leeds have relied heavily on the carrying of Georgi Rutter and Crysencio Summerville, without a central operating player who can break the lines with a pass.

Farke had Emi Buendia pull the strings at Norwich consistently and his record without the Argentine was damning:

In McAtee, Leeds would sign a similar left-footed attacking midfielder who would drift in from the right just like Buendia.

It’s a profile that Leeds sorely lack, with an attacking setup on the left side, and such an investment could add a new dimension to the way Leeds are set up.
