A statue of comedian Jethro is to be unveiled at Trago Mills in Liskeard.

Family and friends of the comedian have raised funds in recent years to give the life-size bronze statue a permanent home for generations to come.

Fans of Geoffery Rowe were asked to come up with suggestions on where the statue should be placed.

Rebel Dean, Jethro’s friend, said: “To go from an idea of, wouldn’t it be nice, to keep his memory there forever. To keep his memory alive.

“Imagine this guy, walking around, from Cornwall, making everyone laugh wherever he went and he’s gone. That’s why I wanted the statue there. To keep the memory of this magical guy from Cornwall, who it became a big, huge hit.”

Rebel first met Jethro when they toured similar venues for shows.

She recalls meeting him: “When we met and talked, we connected. We became very close, we would always go in and see him and we just had an understanding and had a lot of respect for him, like a lot of people. the people of Cornwall did.

“When he passed it was a shock. I heard about fundraising for a statue, I got involved and it was a few years of fundraising and organizing it all.”

The “big reveal” will take place at 2:00 p.m.
