Professor Tim Spector’s anti-diet cuts 2 inches off your waist in 18 weeks

It found that a diet where no food was banned and there was no calorie counting helped people cut at least two inches off their waists in 18 weeks. Professor Tim Spector created the ‘anti-diet’ with the team at ZOE Nutrition.

One of the keys to the diet sees people reduce their appetite by increasing the amount of fiber they consume. Users are advised to avoid too much dairy, processed foods and alcohol – instead try to eat fatty fish, whole grains, nuts, seeds and legumes.

Professor Spector’s team at Kings College London worked with 347 obese volunteers divided into two groups to test the eating plan. Half used the ZOE diet, meaning they gave a poo and blood sample to test things including blood sugar, cholesterol, body fat and gut health.

The tests allow ZOE to create a personalized diet plan, giving 1.2 million different foods a rating from 1 to 100 based on how your body reacts when you eat them, reports MailOnline.

Users sign up for an app that also offers diet and lifestyle advice. In the test, the rest of the subjects used a standard leaflet with dietary guidelines, as well as videos and online resources with weekly check-ins.

Volunteers who followed the Tim Spector plan lost two inches from their waists (6.3 cm), as well as an average of 4.78 lbs. The rest of the volunteers lost an average of 5.35 cm and 0.6 lbs.

The ZOE group also saw a greater reduction in cholesterol levels, felt less hungry and said they slept better.

Professor Spector said: “We have shown that those who follow ZOE’s nutritional advice will see improvements in their overall health. It is clear that some current population advice is outdated, focuses too much on calories and low-fat, low-adherence foods are unlikely to result. in long-term benefits.
