Bruno Fernandes admits Manchester United are only ‘worried’ about one thing amid further Erik ten Hag speculation

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes insisted the team are only concerned about winning the FA Cup this afternoon and not manager Erik ten Hag’s future.

Speculation over the Ten Hag’s future has increased this week after reports suggested Sir Jim Ratcliffe had opted to sack the United boss after today’s final. United sources said MEN Sports that the focus is on the cup final and have refused to be drawn in by speculation surrounding their manager.

Ahead of the game, Fernandes was asked by BBC Sport about the Ten Hag’s future and dismissed the idea that he could be a distraction for United. He explained: “We’re playing a cup final.

“No one is affected by external things because the only thing we have to worry about today is winning the FA Cup and giving our best. Everyone in the dressing room is fully focused on that.”

United’s season ultimately hinges on the outcome of this afternoon’s FA Cup final. After early exits in the Champions League and Carabao Cup, the Reds ended the Premier League season in eighth place.

This means United are out of the European qualification places for next season. However, winning the FA Cup against Manchester City will secure their place in next season’s Europa League.

MEN Sports understands if Ten Hag is sacked, Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna is in the running to be hired as a replacement. Mauricio Pochettino and Thomas Tuchel would love to work for United, as would former manager Jose Mourinho.
