Pedestrian seriously injured in an accident on route 13

A pedestrian was seriously injured Friday afternoon when he was struck by a car on Route 13, according to police.

The crash happened at 4:26 p.m. at the intersection of Route 13 and Newportville Road in the Croydon section of Bristol Township.

“Preliminary investigation indicates that a black 2008 Toyota Solara was traveling eastbound on Route 13 South approaching the intersection with Newportville Road. A 38-year-old man was running southbound on Newportville Road attempting to cross Route 13. The Solara collided with the pedestrian in the eastbound lane of Route 13,” police said.

The 38-year-old man suffered serious injuries and was taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital in Philadelphia by the Bucks County Rescue Squad, police said.

The area around Route 13 and Newportville Road was closed to traffic for several hours while authorities conducted their investigation.

Bucks County Rescue, Croydon Fire Company and Bristol Township Fire Police assisted at the scene.
