Coventry Police officer gives important update on popular men’s walking group

A kind-hearted Coventry man said he was “delighted” to see his walking group “going from strength to strength”. Dan Phillips set up the group to raise awareness of mental health following the tragic death of his friend Marc Forth.

PC Dan Phillips, of Coventry Police, set up the group earlier this year in memory of friend and former colleague Marc Forth, who died in 2023. The group has since continued its regular meetings and walks at Coombe Abbey Park.

Officers from West Midlands Police decided to take it a step further at the weekend by taking a long walk at Draycote Water in Warwickshire. PC Phillips said the trip was “great” as they were joined by family and friends as well as Chief Constable Craig Guildford.

PC Phillips said: “We were delighted that the Chief Constable supported us on Sunday (May 19) and we were delighted to see so many people taking part on a warm and sunny morning.

“We have been nominated by Team Police and Virgin Media O2 Business to be the recipients of the sponsorship money they are raising during the month of May.”

He continued: “Now we’ve also been awarded funding from the National Lottery, which means we have some income to help with costs and running events, one of which is a family fun day in July.”
