Player to leave Sheffield United this summer in ‘big deal’ – Blades’ relegation makes star ‘difficult to keep’

Sheffield United could see some of their players leave in the summer window following relegation from the Premier League.

Fotboll Direkt state Anel Ahmedhodžić will be one of them, and his future remains uncertain.

The defender joined Sheffield United from Malmö FF in 2022 when the Blades were in the Championship. He was one of the key players in helping the club return to the top flight, but has no plans to play in the second division next season.

Chris Wilder’s side will therefore find it “difficult to keep” the 25-year-old at Bramall Lane next season.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international is claimed to have a €20m release clause and will leave Sheffield United in a ‘big deal’ in the next window.

Napoli have shown interest in the centre-back in the winter market and it is unclear if they are still keen on him. The report also does not mention any other clubs he could join, but does state that his future is likely to be away from England.

Ahmedhodžić’s former club Malmö will be entitled to a share of the fee from his sale, but Fotboll Direkt does not know what the percentage is.
