The Met Office is forecasting heavy rain for Bristol

Heavy rain is forecast in Bristol this evening, ending the first day of the city’s Bank Holiday weekend festivities and lasting until Sunday morning (May 26). The Met Office has forecast heavy rain from 9pm on Saturday night, which could come as a shock to those enjoying the headline acts on Love Saves The Day.

The Met Office reports: “For many, Saturday will be the best day of the bank holiday weekend. It will be a mostly dry day for much of the UK with some good sunny spells for many and temperatures likely to reach the high 20s. Celsius in a few places in the south-east. Those in the far east and far south-west will experience rain spreading from the east and west respectively.”

Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Dan Harris said: “Sunday will see a mix of sunny spells but also scattered, heavy showers and some downpours. They won’t see them everywhere, but where they do, there’s a small chance of temporary problems like flooded roads.

“The outlook for Bank Holiday Monday is for brighter, cooler and windier conditions with scattered showers for England and Wales early on, but a steady drying trend from the west is likely.”

In 2022, Love Saves The Day festival goers were sheltered under tarps over the fence as rains lashed the festival. The organizers had to issue an apology for the lack of shelter preventing those present from getting soaked.

Rain also flooded the stages in the evening, causing singer Arlo Parks to cancel her performance. The 2024 layout includes the newer Big Top stage, which is under cover, as well as several smaller stages in tent-like structures, meaning there should be cover for those who need it.
