The Sheffield Garden Walk is growing to more than 80 Chicago gardens in its 46th year

CHICAGO, IL–(Marketwired – Oct 8, 2014) – The Sheffield Garden Walk celebrated its 46th annual^th anniversary this July with tours of more than 80 residential gardens in one of Chicago’s most historic neighborhoods.

Starting at lunchtime on Saturday 19 July and Sunday 20 July, guests were able to enjoy guided walking tours of otherwise private gardens, as well as guided architectural tours of the Sheffield neighborhood, much of which is a designated national historic district. The entry point for the event is at 2200 N. Sheffield at Webster. A suggested donation of $7-10 benefits the Sheffield Neighborhood Association.

“Whether you’re a gardener with a green thumb or just want to take a look at some of the city’s most beautiful gardens, the Sheffield Garden Walk is a great way to spend a summer afternoon,” said Jasko Omervic of Planned Property. Lincoln. “It offers a rare glimpse of unique gardens and is convenient for residents of the greater Lincoln Park area.”

Garden tours are available from noon to 5:30 p.m. on July 19 and 20, with guided architectural tours at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. each day. The guides will be available at the event, which also includes the Ask a Master Gardener booth hosted by the University of Illinois Extension, as well as live music, food and drinks and a kids’ corner.
