Bank Holiday Bin Collection Dates for Charnwood, Coalville, Harborough, Hinckley, Leicester and Melton

Leicester and Leicestershire bin collections take place on their usual day on the end of May bank holiday, 27 May.

Residents of Leicester will see no change. Recycling and general household waste are collected from Tuesday to Friday in the city, so they will not be affected by the holiday. A Leicester City Council spokesman said: “For anyone who subscribes to our green (garden) waste service twice and is due to be collected on Monday 27th May, this will proceed as normal.”




Blaby District Council said all rubbish collections will take place as normal. A council spokeswoman said: “As with previous bank holidays this year, we are now collecting Monday bins on Bank Holiday Monday itself, so there is no change to the service.”

Harborough District Council does not run in-house collections on Mondays, so the bank holiday will not affect any of these collections. A spokesman said: “There will be no changes to bin collections as a result of the bank holiday as we do not collect from households on Mondays. Commercial waste customers who collect on Mondays have already been informed as part of their contracts and terms. and conditions.”

A spokesman for Melton Borough Council said: “The council cannot confirm any changes to collections this bank holiday in Melton Borough, and a spokesman for North West Leicestershire said: “Our household household collections take place from Tuesday by Friday,” so the collections will be. not be affected by the Monday holiday.

Charnwood Town Council’s website said: “Refuse, recycling and garden waste collections will not be affected by the holiday.”

Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council’s website said it was a normal working day this bank holiday and Oadby and Wigston Council’s website said waste and recycling collections would take place as normal on Monday.
