Leeds United travel to Wembley today hoping to secure an instant return to the top flight in the play-off final against Southampton.

The Whites are a game away from ensuring they are a Premier League side again but face a tough test at Wembley in the form of Southampton.

Leeds were beaten twice by Russell Martin’s men in the regular season and will need to correct that record to end the season triumphantly this afternoon.

Leeds team news: Bamford ruled out one in three

For Leeds, Patrick Bamford is the major setback for the squad as he remains sidelined with a knee injury picked up at Middlesbrough at the end of April.

He has been ruled out of the final two games of the campaign and the play-off semi-final, with Daniel Farke confirming he will not return for today’s final.

Along with Bamford, long-term absentees Pascal Struijk and Stuart Dallas are of course ruled out.

Injury boost: Sam Byram could be available

On the plus side, Sam Byram is a possible returnee for the team after missing out on the annihilation of his former side Norwich City.

Farke said he trained with the team and was in a late fitness test, far from available.

Not ideal for Leeds, but not surprising for Bamford

We’ve known for several years that it would be incredibly naive to have to rely on Bamford’s fitness.

However, here we are again knowing we won’t have a viral figure on our team for the biggest game of the season.

Let’s hope Joel Piroe has the same performance in his locker as he did in the semi-final, because we’re going to need it.
