A massive student accommodation development is the biggest planning application submitted to councils this week.

Ardwick could soon receive a redevelopment of the Victoria Point development which is already in place. Plans for six new blocks containing 876 bedrooms have been submitted to Manchester Council.

This large-scale expansion would include a combination of studios and groups.

Huge student housing complex planned for Ardwick

A student complex in Ardwick is to be redeveloped – with almost 900 bedrooms to come. Victoria Point, built in 2009 on Hathersage Road, consists of six buildings which are slated for either demolition or expansion. The new blocks will be four to 12 stories tall.

There will be 876 bedrooms in total “with a mix of studios, two-bed group, three-bed group and four-bed group apartments, divided as follows”, according to developers Empiric Student Property PLC.

Oldham

No new significant planning applications have been submitted to Oldham Council this week.

Rochdale

New projectors for the tennis courts

Alkrington Tennis and Social Club in Middleton are hoping to shine a light on their courts following a recent planning application.

The Uplands-based club wants to install eight new floodlights across its two pitches. The projectors would be seven meters high.

Salford

Temporary MRI unit planned for hospital

Oaklands Hospital in Salford is to get a new temporary mobile MRI base if plans are approved.

The new facility would be located at the front of the hospital behind the existing disabled parking spaces. The existing mobile MRI base behind the Lancaster Road site will be retained for a mobile CT scanner on site one day a week.

Stockport

New entrance and roof deck extension planned for golf club

Romiley Golf Club has unveiled plans for a new entrance and extension.

Stockport Council has granted the application for a single storey extension to form a new entrance to the existing golf club building. An extended roof terrace is also proposed for the Barlow Fold Road site.

Trafford

Bid to make two houses in one

Plans have been submitted to create two homes where a detached house currently sits on a “generously sized plot” in the Timperley area of ​​Altrincham.

The planning application was submitted on behalf of Babatunde Ajibola for the Houldsworth Avenue property.

Documents submitted to Trafford’s planning portal say the applicant is seeking to develop two houses separated by a newly built partition wall to create a three-bed and two-bed house, along with parking and “amenity space”.

Wigan

Plans for new food and beverage delicacies

The owner of a two bed flat on the first floor wants to convert it into a delicatessen for the sale of food and drink, mainly on the premises.

Alan Green submitted the proposal for the property on Church Street in the Orrell area of ​​Wigan.

The deli would occupy a total of 6,243 sq ft.
