The family left the Gatwick flight after asking passengers not to eat nuts

A family who asked fellow passengers not to consume nuts because of their daughter’s extreme allergy was told to leave the flight to Turkey. Georgie Palmer and Nick Sollom said they asked the crew to make a public announcement about the condition, but when they were refused, they took it upon themselves to ask those seated around them to refrain from eating the nuts and broadcast more away the message.

However, it all backfired as they were told to leave the plane after the pilot found out about it. The couple had to leave the next day and incurred an extra £5,000 to book another flight with a different airline, on top of hotel fees.

According to MailOnline, trouble broke out as they boarded a SunExpress flight from Gatwick to Dalaman. Georgie captioned it: “Captain has decided due to my daughter’s allergy he doesn’t want to fly with her on board.

“When he found out I talked to the other passengers, he was yelling at me from the cabin. He was so angry that I knew we were being told to get off the plane.”

Georgie claims that none of the fellow passengers raised any complaints about their request.

The family then sought alternative arrangements and boarded an EasyJet flight, where the crew requested that passengers not eat peanuts. Speaking about the alarming effect of the situation on her young daughter, Georgie said: “Rosie is in a terrible state about it. It ruined his vacation.”

The family had to pay to board a later flight

A SunExpress spokesperson said: “We take the safety of our passengers very seriously. Shortly after boarding our flight from London Gatwick, the passenger expressed concern that one of his family members had a severe peanut allergy and requested that other passengers be notified.”
