Darwin Nunez posts new update after Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool comments

Darwin Nunez took to social media as he jets off at the end of a season of trials for the Liverpool forward.

The 24-year-old came in for widespread criticism during his second year at the club for his wayward finish, as well as his behavior in the final weeks of the campaign. He was singled out by supporters for almost completely deleting his Instagram profile of anything related to the Reds, before he was seen not cheering for Jurgen Klopp during the guard of honour.

Nunez has also been under the microscope for his form on the pitch. After an uneventful first 12 months in England, he has doubled his Premier League output, scoring 11 goals and adding a further five assists (eight in total). His unpredictable nature in front of goal, however, saw him manage just one goal in the final 10 weeks of the season as Liverpool’s title hopes crumbled.

In this context, he was examined by many. Ahead of Arne Slot’s arrival this summer, now is a key period for the former Benfica man as he looks to establish himself.

He has already come out to talk about Klopp’s exit, seemingly putting to bed any suggestion of consequence. “We were all a bit shocked by Klopp leaving, nobody expected it,” he said. “It’s a shame he’s leaving.

“Personally I’d like him to go away in a big way, winning things, and it didn’t happen that way. It’s a shame for the players too. I wish him all the best.”
