Pep Guardiola ‘expected to leave’ Man City as Liverpool face Xabi Alonso

It’s been more than a week since Jurgen Klopp said goodbye to Liverpool.

Klopp oversaw the Reds beat Wolves in the final Premier League game of the season, which was also his last game in charge. The German will now be replaced by new head coach Arne Slot, who will officially take over the role on June 1.

Liverpool don’t play another game until July and none of a competitive nature until August. Between now and then, however, there will be plenty of talk about the Reds and what could happen in Slot’s debut season at Anfield. Here, the ECHO takes a look at what’s been doing the rounds online and on social media in the past 24 hours.

Pep Guardiola ‘expects to leave Man City’

According to the Daily Mail, Pep Guardiola is expected to leave Manchester City at the end of next season. The 53-year-old’s contract at the Etihad Stadium is due to expire in 2025 and there is no sign of an extension in the works.

The report claims that City’s hierarchy are under the impression that Guardiola will leave the club when his contract expires. However, it has been claimed that while City will allow the former Barcelona boss to make his own decision, they are keen for their manager to sign an extension.
