Maps show ‘summer-like’ weather for UK as Coventry braces for 23C

Scorching temperatures are finally returning to Britain, forecasters say. It comes after many parts of the country were hit by rain and storms – but highs of 23C are now expected in some areas.

New weather maps from WXCharts show the exact date the country will enjoy “summer-like” temperatures, with maps turning orange to indicate warmer weather. It comes as the Met Office has issued three different yellow weather warnings for rain and thunderstorms across the north of England, as well as parts of central, south and south-west England.

The Mirror reports that as early as next week, areas such as Coventry, Birmingham and Manchester will see temperatures of up to 23C from June 5. Even further north, maps show that areas around Wick and Inverness will sizzle at 21C.

The Met Office’s long-term forecast for 31 May to 9 June states: “Showers are possible in the southeast on Friday, otherwise Britain will experience mainly dry weather with sunny spells and warm with light winds for most. By the end of the week, the weather will become more stable as high pressure builds in from the west. A few more showers may develop, particularly in the north, but for many it will be a dry weekend with warm sunshine.

“This fine weather is likely to continue for a few days into next week, but after that the outlook becomes more uncertain. The south of the UK is likely to be drier with showers or precipitation tending to be in the north. Temperatures will likely be around or slightly above normal for the time of year.”

The weather this week is off to a dry start and has settled down for many areas in the south and east today. However, showers are expected to hit northern and western parts and some are likely to develop elsewhere during the day. Heavy showers will also affect northern and eastern Scotland.

On Tuesday, the rain will move northeast in most areas, followed by sunshine and showers. A mix of sun and showers will continue for Wednesday and Thursday, with some scattered thunderstorms.
