Rumours: Leeds failure boosts Liverpool’s Summerville hopes

Having recently been linked with Leeds 22-year-old Crysencio Summerville, Liverpool’s hopes of signing the rising Dutch star have been boosted after the West Yorkshire club failed to win promotion back to the Premier League.

After being beaten by Southampton in the play-offs at the weekend, it looks almost certain that Leeds will now have to embark on a player-clearing move in order to raise around £100m in the transfer market this summer and for to balance the accounts.

Summerville has been one of the Championship’s standout young attackers this season and, as well as rumored interest from Liverpool, the winger has been linked with a number of Premier League sides in recent months, including Aston Villa and Chelsea.

Spending most of last season on the left, he scored 21 goals and 10 assists in 49 games, with a goal involvement every 126 minutes. Having signed for Leeds ahead of the under-19 season, Summerville qualifies as domestically trained despite his nationality.

Confirmation of Leeds’ failure to gain promotion has understandably led to a flurry of talk regarding Summerville’s future over the past 24 hours, although there is still little that isn’t speculative or based on older claims and reports .
