FANS PANEL: Catalans’ reflections and Wigan look ahead (Image: Joe Richardson)

Our Guardian fan panel is back to discuss another impressive and memorable win for Warrington Wolves.

The Wire went to France and returned with two valuable Super League points on Saturday, earning a measure of revenge for the two defeats Catalans Dragons inflicted earlier in the year.

Here’s what pundits Rob Croston and Mark Robinson thought about the game…

ROB CROSTON

What a way to support securing a trip to Wembley by putting on another show that showed how far the Wire had come in the Sam Burgess era.

Wire has shown character and determination in recent weeks and hasn’t panicked in defence.

Saturday showed that Wire is not only building as a team, but finding new ways to win. Sometimes you have to adjust your performances accordingly and Wire certainly did that.

This wasn’t a game for fast, free-flowing rugby – this was a game about taking risks when presented and making the most of your opportunities.

The Wire will be looking to launch that confidence and resilience into what will be the biggest two weeks of the Burgess era to date, and this will give the Wire team a good indication of what they are all about and to see if the class of 2024 can reach top marks.

With Wembley on the horizon, Wire could be forgiven for being a little more cautious than usual, but this is a massive opportunity for these players and days like this they will relish.

It’s the week that all Warrington fans circle on their calendars. It will be talked about by the players, the build up is set to be huge.

There is probably some doubt around the Wire fans that they can beat a red-hot Wigan side, however this team will believe.

I think they can do it and they won’t back down from trying.

MARK ROBINSON

I think I watched Back to the Future too many times – I thought I was back in 2010/11/12.

Saturday was a total team. Yes, we had a few errors early on, but it takes a whole team to keep defending.

Set after set and the Catalans couldn’t break us down – that’s as good as any champagne rugby I’ve played.

Rodrick Tai – what a beast his defending and his ability to get meters out of our end was great, same at the other end to Toby King.

George Williams was doing what George Williams does again and he was influential, in fact the whole team was on point.

I hope Joe Philbin isn’t too bad and I have to give Chris Satae a big shout out – he was huge for the Catalans and a real thorn in the side with the minutes he had to put in.

Next week and I’d guess a few to rest.
