Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s ‘desperate’ move to improve UK public image as popularity slips

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been labeled “desperate” in their efforts to save their dwindling public image in Britain, as one royal commentator pointed out her waning popularity. Kinsey Schofield, a royal expert, commented on the couple’s recent actions, suggesting they were an attempt to boost their standing with the British public.

On TalkTV, Schofield noted: “They’ve just hired a publicist from the UK. I mean (for) Meghan, who admits her poll is in the gutter.”

She continued, emphasizing the magnitude of the situation: “When you’re desperate enough to hire not one, but two new publicists.”

However, host Jeremy Kyle chimed in in disbelief: “Imagine that though. You can only imagine that a member of the Royal Family has to hire a PR expert in the country they were born in. It’s unbelievable.”

Schofield didn’t hold back, calling the strategy “crisis management.” Recent figures have shown a decline in the Duchess’s approval ratings, with a survey of 2,166 British adults revealing that just a quarter had a positive opinion of Meghan, the Express reports.

In contrast, Prince Harry fared slightly better with 31%, and both found more support among younger demographics. However, Newsweek’s separate poll indicated that Meghan’s popularity in the United States mirrors that of King Charles at 36%, with 24% expressing dislike and the rest undecided.

This week, Prince Harry returns to the UK for an Invictus Games event at St Paul’s Cathedral in London. Meghan did not join him on the adventure, but is expected to go to Nigeria, where she will be reunited with Harry after his brief visit to his homeland.

Like Harry’s trip to England, the trip to Nigeria also pays homage to the Invictus Games, with the Sussexes set to take part in talks about the games. In a previous interview with Nigerian-American actor Ziwe on his podcast, Archetypes, Meghan revealed that she is “43% Nigerian”.
