Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford react as the Manchester United striker announces his exit

Anthony Martial has announced he will leave Manchester United this summer, his team-mates have reacted.

After a season in which he made 19 appearances, Anthony Martial’s exit from Manchester United has been confirmed after a nine-year stay at the club.

317 appearances, 90 goals and 47 assists during his time at Old Trafford and provided fans with several special moments in a post-Sir Alex Ferguson era that saw little of him.

His exit is no surprise and has seemed on the cards for months given his lack of playing time and high salary.

But he will go down as one of the best of the last decade and deserves his flowers and well wishes ahead of wherever he goes next.

Now, his colleagues have all reacted to the news.

Manchester United players react to Anthony Martial’s departure

After Martial made his announcement, the comments were filled with responses and messages from his past and present teammates.

Rasmus Hojlund was quick to send him a message, commenting “Legend” under his colleague’s post from last year.

United captain Bruno Fernandes also commented as he wrote: “I’ll lose touch with you toto,” followed by a heart emoji.

Marcus Rashford joined the messages and wrote: “So many memories together. Stay blessed brother,” followed by a heart.

Christian Eriksen commented: “All the best Anto,” followed by a prayer emoji.

Victor Lindelof commented four hearts, while Harry Maguire commented one, as did Diogo Dalot.

David de Gea, Mason Greenwood and Anthony Elanga also left hearts in the comments, showing just how loved Martial was by his team-mates.

Martial joins Raphael Varane in leaving Old Trafford

While it is sad to see Martial go, in many ways it is a huge plus for Erik ten Hag and Ineos ahead of this summer as he joins Raphael Varane as the second senior player ready for release.

Combined, the fact that these two left for free brought £590,000 a week (Martial £250,000 a week, Varane £340,000 a week) into the wage bill, enough for two or three top players.

Letting him go is absolutely the right decision, despite the fond memories we will all have of him from his early years at the club.

We wish him all the best at his next club and we’re sure he’ll crush it wherever he goes.
