Britain is bracing itself for June, with three heatwaves scheduled

Britain is in for a blistering June, with THREE heatwaves on the cards, according to forecasters. The sixth month of the year could see three heatwaves hit England, with scorching weather and highs of 30 degrees Celsius at times, before July arrives.

The Weather Outlook has forecast 30C and a series of heatwaves next month. Forecaster Brian Gaze said: “June looks set from the start and several nice spells are forecast, with flurries of very warm weather and possibly reaching 30C for the first time this year.

“High levels of background heat and warm sea surface temperatures provide additional fuel for hot spells, but also for rain at times.” Looking ahead between June 11 and June 25, the Met Office said: “Current indications are that the chances of either high pressure or low pressure dominating are fairly even for this period.

“There is no strong signal because dry or wet conditions are the more prominent weather feature. Overall, a continuation of variable, slow-moving weather patterns are likely throughout much of June, similar to what was experienced through May.

“However, with potentially slow-moving weather systems, there is still a chance that drier or even wetter spells of longer duration are also possible. Temperatures are most likely to be around normal or above normal.”

The BBC says June 3 to June 9 shows “signs of warmth, although uncertainty remains”. It will also be “warmer and drier in parts” between June 9 and 23, the BBC Weather team added. It said: “Generally it will remain fairly changeable across the UK but temperatures should remain above average. Drier and calmer interludes are probably sometimes.”

“It looks like the hot summer weather could last longer in some parts. Let’s see if it stays that way.”
