Hot England prospect signs new deal with Leeds United

Leeds United England Under-17 international Darryl Ombang has signed a new contract with the club, with his new deal running until 2026.

The 18-year-old goalkeeper spent the season on loan at Ossett United after making two appearances for Leeds’ Under-21 side. He progressed through the ranks at the club, playing 21 times for the Under-18s.

Ombang gained international recognition when he was capped by England at Under-17 level, making his debut for the Young Lions against Romania in a 2–0 win. He also played against Slovakia and USA.

A statement from Leeds United said: “Leeds United are pleased to announce that Darryl Ombang has committed his future to the club, signing a new contract until the summer of 2026. The 18-year-old has impressed at Thorp Arch since joining the club . The Whites ahead of the 2021/22 season, where he continued to make appearances for both the Under-18 and Under-21 sides.

“Internationally, Ombang has represented England at youth level, making three appearances for the Young Lions Under-17 side, his debut coming in a 2-0 away win over Romania. Everyone at Leeds United would like to congratulate Darryl on renewing his terms with the club and look forward to seeing his continued development at Thorp Arch.”

Ombang has been at Leeds since July 2021 after making the decision to swap Bradford City for the Whites’ academy system, with the Bantams receiving a fee in return. The goalkeeper has signed professional terms with Leeds for the first time in 2022.
