ALEX SPENCER LIVE IN MANCHESTER – WHAT HAPPENED?

The latest indie sensation and teenage prodigy Alex Spencer is making quite a name for himself in the North West (and beyond). The seventeen-year-old played his biggest show to date on Friday night, playing to nearly 500 music fans and selling out Manchester’s Academy Hall 3 weeks ago.

RGM caught up with Alex backstage ahead of his gig, along with his band members Harrison, Annabel and rounding out the foursome. Alex was in a good mood, not exactly. believing how popular he has become with a growing fan base and people still ringing his phone desperate to get last minute tickets!

The concert hall was full of screaming fans, probably the most crowded place I’ve ever seen. Impressive when you have plenty of live music on offer in Manchester on a Friday night, making this sell-out show all the more impressive. The wedding present was playing downstairs!

Alex has a wonderful rapport with his fans who sing along to every word. One of the loudest cheers of the night was when Alex bought little brother Luca to help him perform Oasis’ Don’t Look Back in Anger. The brothers became well known during the lockdown for playing on the streets of Manchester and uploading videos to social media, amassing a huge following before the live gigs were played.

Alex has the confidence and stage presence of a seasoned musician and has written a number of very catchy songs that get stuck in your head. The band certainly add an extra element in terms of sound and the four seem to mesh incredibly well, each talented in their own right. I predict that on his current trajectory, Alex will be headlining Academy 2 and the main stage for the next few years.

Alex and the band have already booked a number of festivals this summer and you can catch them live at Manchester’s Neighborhood festival later this year.
