Swansea City news tonight as Michu turns down UK offers and ex-bosses Leicester City in mix

These are your Swansea City headline stories on Tuesday 28 May.

Michu agrees to extend the contract

Swansea legend Michu has agreed a contract extension with his club Burgos.

There had been speculation over his future as sporting director in recent months due to a change in ownership at the club, but that has now been put to bed with a new deal in place. He will now remain in his position until 2027.

“Sometimes I come home and my parents ask me why I feel this way, but I feel indebted to Burgos. I think I would do it a little less if we could go up, though I don’t think I can repay their love. (the fans) gave us,” said the Asturian.

“We have to keep in mind where we come from, but we can’t go wrong. The guys who belong to the team need to have a change of mindset. We are starting from zero and we have to reach 50 points as soon as possible, but the goal is to aim for the First Division, and that is to be appreciated.”

According to Spanish publication AS, Michu turned down offers from the UK and his homeland to stay at Burgos.

Dhanda in motion

Yan Dhanda has said goodbye to Ross County as he is set for an imminent move to Hearts.

The former Swansea man said his two years with County were the most enjoyable of his career so far.

He agreed a pre-contract move to the Edinburgh club earlier this year and reports for pre-season training next month.

“After two great years at Ross County, it’s time to move on. I want to thank everyone at the club for making me feel so welcome from the moment I arrived,” said Dhanda.

“It’s the most I’ve enjoyed football and I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to improve as a player and as a person. It was an honor to have the privilege of leading this club and that will stay with me forever. I would like to thank the managers, staff and players I have worked with here, as well as the chief executive and chairman. Your support has been so important to me throughout my time here.

“To the fans, thank you for your love and support over the past two years. Hearing you sing my name is something I’ve dreamed of since (I was) a boy. This club remains in the Premiership where it belongs. See you all again very soon.”

Ex-bosses from the Foxes mix

Former Swansea managers Graham Potter and Steve Cooper are in the early running to become the next Leicester City boss.

Enzo Maresca’s move to Chelsea is now a matter of when, not if, and as such a market has opened up for who will succeed him in the Foxes dugout.

West Brom’s Carlos Corberan is the bookies’ current favourite, but Potter – who ironically was sacked by the Blues – is second in the running at 3/1.

Cooper, who was last signed by Nottingham Forest, is further behind at 8/1, with Mark Robins, Marti Cifuentes, David Moyes, Liam Rosenior and Carlos Cuesta ahead of him at the time of writing.
