Firefighters launch the car at the skateboard bowl in Dawberry Fields

Arsonists set fire to a car in a skate bowl in a park in Birmingham. The burnt wreck was photographed at Dawberry Fields today, Tuesday 28 May.

The octopus-themed site was painted solely by volunteers in Kings Heath last September. It has now become a crime scene after the vehicle was dumped.

Locals were shocked to see the body of a car, which appears to be a Ford Focus, over the bank holiday weekend. One said: “I hope he moves soon. It’s terrible that vandals would do this.

“Why would they want to leave it there of all places? It’s really unsightly and a shame for the kids who want to use the park.” BirminghamLive has contacted Birmingham City Council for comment.
