Manchester United are fighting to keep their place in the Europa League

Ineos is “confident” Manchester United will be allowed to compete in the Europa League next season after holding talks with UEFA over its multi-club ownership rules.

MCO rules prevent a person or organization from having “decisive influence” over the management of more than one club in the same competition. Sir Jim Ratcliffe, chairman of Ineos, owns a 27.7% stake in United and is a majority shareholder in Nice, who have also qualified for the Europa League.

An independent commission will rule on the matter before the start of the Europa League qualifying rounds in mid-July.

If no solution is found, United would have to be relegated to the Europa Conference League as they finished lower in the Premier League (eighth) than Nice.
