Where do Manchester United go from here ahead of next season?

With pressure on Erik Ten Hag’s door, the Dutch manager did what had to be done – against all odds – and delivered another domestic trophy to Manchester United.

News of the Ten Hag’s attempted sacking after the FA Cup, regardless of the result, emerged and circulated on social media, helping to fuel even more noise, animosity and division in the biggest game of their season.

However, the players, staff and fans rallied together, all playing their part and delivering a famous victory against their city rivals in their best performance of the 23/24 campaign.

Some fans have rightly wondered where this Manchester United has been all season, at which point the manager will dismiss this line of questioning, absentees being a consistent thorn in their side this season.

Both sides are right, but where does Manchester United’s new ownership now stand on how to take the club forward?

This summer, more than ever, it looks like there will be a managerial merry-go-round with plenty of Europe’s top clubs looking for or being forced to make a change.

Some clubs have been given a hand by the current man, while others, such as Chelsea FC, are looking to strike from the front and make an early move, sacking Mauricio Pochettino and hiring current Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca.

INEOS, who have taken control of Manchester United’s sporting department until they can complete a full takeover from the Glazer family, have a major decision to make regarding the club’s future.

They have seen, since being officially announced as new shareholders this year, a rather battered squad that has failed to inspire, in general. Since failing to beat Burnley, Sheffield United and Bournemouth, Red Devils fans have been put through their paces in terms of frustration when watching their team.

Not only do they have Premier

Results in the League and Champions League have been an area of concern, also the style of play encapsulates it on a weekly basis. If Ten Hag’s side lost bravely but had a clear structure, then it would be easier for Manchester United fans to get behind him and remain patient.

But that is not the case. Until the FA Cup, which went against the norm in which the team played, the Red Devils were open in virtually all of their matches. Too open and lacking the physicality of most, if not all, other teams in the Premier League, Ten Hag’s players have been exposed regularly this season.

So it’s time for INEOS to make a decision, which is said to be on its way by the end of this week. They either need to go all-in and allow Ten Hag the right time, at least another season, to get things right, or cut the cord now and find a coach who fits the mold and their newly established environment.
