Two people have been arrested after a woman was allegedly assaulted with a baseball bat and crowbar.

Officers were called to Shirecliffe Road in Sheffield yesterday afternoon where they say she was approached by two people as she sat in her car.

They add that there were children in the car at the time of the incident – while the victim was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

South Yorkshire Police said: “Officers investigating reports of an assault in Sheffield are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

“We were called to Shirecliffe Road at around 4.50pm on May 27 where it is reported that a woman was approached by two people while sitting in her car.

“It is then reported that a man and a woman assaulted the woman with a baseball bat and crowbar. A car was also damaged and it is believed that children were in the car at the time of the incident.

“The victim was taken to hospital with minor head and nose injuries.

“A 42-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assault and affray and an 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault, criminal damage and affray.
