US takeover talks for Sheffield Utd

Championship side Sheffield United could be up for takeover this summer.

The relegated Premier League club are said to be on the verge of being taken over by an American consortium.

On telegraphcurrent owner Prince Abdullah and Silicon Valley investors are in talks.

They hope to complete a deal in the coming days that would move the Blades to new ownership.

Despite promotion to the top flight a year ago, the Blades’ financial situation has remained tight.

They failed to strengthen their team enough and ended up finishing last in the standings.
