Leeds United fans are planning a minute’s applause for Robert Hiscoe

Leeds United fans are planning a minute’s applause for a fan who was killed in an attack in a Farnley pub.

Robert Hiscoe, 37, who was described as a “devoted father” and a “loyal” Leeds United fan, was badly assaulted in The Butterbowl and died from his injuries.

Following his death, tributes poured in for him, with a post on a Leeds United Facebook group stating: “29,000 members but we’ve lost one, today we lost a friend, one of the biggest Leeds fans I’ve ever known. He raised thousands for NHS in seclusion and sang his heart out wherever he went.

“Words cannot express what it means to this club, your friends and your family. We will love and remember you forever.”

Now a group of fans are planning a huge tribute to him at Leeds’ play-off game with Norwich. In a post shared on social media, a group said they wanted people to clap for a minute at Elland Road during the 11th minute of the game.

The post read: “Leeds United fans lost one of their most loyal supporters on Monday 6th May. Please show your appreciation by clapping at Elland Road in the 11th minute for a man who raised £16,000 for the NHS during lockdown.

“Father, son, husband, nephew, brother, uncle, friend. RIP Robert John Charles Hiscoe.”
