Police issue update after man stabbed outside shops in Shard End

Police have issued an update after a man was stabbed outside shops in the Shard End on Monday (May 27). Detectives launched an investigation into the attack after a violent disturbance broke out near the Heath Way shops at around 7.15pm.

Paramedics found a man with multiple stab wounds outside the shops. The 27-year-old was rushed to the hospital where he remained yesterday.




West Midlands Police told BirminghamLive this morning that his injuries are “not thought to be life-threatening”. The force made no arrests.

Police closed the Heath Way car park outside the shops for several hours yesterday. Police were seen at the scene carrying out investigations.

Section 60 powers were in place in the Shard End, allowing police to search anyone without the need for suspicion, but the powers expired at 1.53pm yesterday.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said today: “No one has been arrested at this stage and inquiries are continuing. The victim’s injuries are not considered life-threatening.”

Detective Inspector Tom Lyons said in a statement yesterday: “We are urgently trying to establish what happened. We are carrying out CCTV inquiries in the area and speaking to a number of witnesses.
