3 alternatives to Mika Biereth Sheffield Wednesday should consider

Sheffield Wednesday are among the teams interested in Arsenal prospect Mika Biereth this summer as they look to strengthen their attacking ranks.

Sheffield Wednesday are keen on Biereth after watching him in January, but after his time at Motherwell, he will move to Austria with Sturm Graz.

His loan club are also eyeing a permanent deal, but separate reports have since said a deal looks unlikely. That should give the Owls hope, although new links between the Championship club and Biereth are said to be in competition for his signature.

It means Danny Rohl and co would be wise to keep their options open.

Here, we propose three alternative striker targets that Sheffield Wednesday should have on their radar…

Cannon has endured a difficult first season with Championship winners Leicester City and while a decision will be made on his immediate future, a drop back down to the second tier could really benefit him.

If the door opens to move on, Sheffield Wednesday should certainly be among those in the chase.

The 21-year-old Irishman previously played for Preston North End with eight goals in 21 games and a move to Hillsborough could see him regain his dangerous best on a new loan deal.

Duncan McGuire – Orlando City

Like Biereth, McGuire was targeted by Sheffield Wednesday in January, but when a move to Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers fell through, the American forward was forced to return to Orlando City.

A move could be on the cards again this summer, although his offer expires at the end of the calendar year. It would probably be a permanent deal, so he would need Dejphon Chansiri’s approval.

However, he could become a fantastic asset for the Owls in the short term and if he can maintain his current trajectory, McGuire is someone who could make the club a healthy profit for years to come.

Who is this?

THE QUIZ STARTS!

Troy Parrott – Tottenham Hotspur

Last but not least is Spurs striker Troy Parrott, who could benefit from a permanent move this summer.

Loans haven’t worked out so well for him so far, but in 31 games for the Eredivisie Exceslior side this season, Parrott has managed 14 goals and five assists.

The 22-year-old remains a big talent for years to come and, in a permanent home under a top coach like Danny Rohl, could well come to Sheffield Wednesday.
