Croydon, 20-year-old man arrested for Bournemouth beach murder – Inside Croydon

Police have arrested a 20-year-old man, identified as Croydon, on suspicion of murdering Amie Gray on a beach in Bournemouth last Friday.

Dorset Police previously released CCTV of a man in a black hoodie close to the scene of the stabbing just before midnight on May 24.

Two women, both from Poole, were stabbed on Durley Chine beach at around 11.45pm that night.

Amie Gray, a 34-year-old personal trainer, died at the scene, while a 38-year-old woman remains in hospital with serious injuries.

“Following extensive enquiries, a 20-year-old man from the Croydon area of ​​London has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder,” police said last night.

Detective Superintendent Richard Dixey from Dorset Police said last night: “The investigation has progressed rapidly over the last few days which has now led to the arrest in London.

“Officers from Dorset Police’s firearms and intelligence teams worked alongside colleagues from the Metropolitan Police to make the arrest.

“We are continuing to update the loved ones of the woman who tragically died, as well as the victim in hospital, with all the latest developments and our thoughts remain with them.

“I would like to thank everyone who has come forward with information so far and reiterate my appeal for witnesses who have not already come forward to contact Dorset Police.

“The increased visible police presence in the area will remain in place and we will continue to strongly encourage anyone with concerns not to hesitate to speak to any officer who will be able to listen and provide appropriate advice.”

Police continued to carry out searches at the beach and cliff area near the south coast resort, which remained isolated as a crime scene for much of the bank holiday weekend.

On Sunday, police issued CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in a bid to get witnesses to come forward.

A 17-year-old boy from Lancashire, arrested on suspicion of murder in the hours after the attack, has since been released without charge.
