Leicester City get Graham Potter’s answer in their search for a new manager

An overwhelming majority of Leicester City supporters have backed Graham Potter to become the club’s next manager once Enzo Maresca’s departure is confirmed.

For now, the Italian remains at the club’s helm, although that looks to be only a matter of time as Chelsea close in. The London club have identified Maresca as their ideal managerial target, have officially approached Leicester to begin contact and this week progress points. to the near-completion switch.

Once completed, Leicester will have to make a vital decision themselves about the type of manager they need for next season. Their current manager has won promotion with a definitive style of football, but with the threat of financial fair play (FFP) penalties looming, it might be more pragmatic to install a fireman, at least for now.

Leicestershire Live we wanted to hear what fans had to say on the subject, so we launched a poll on Tuesday with several options to choose from. The list was made up of those presented by our very own Jordan Blackwell, as well as a few named as front-runners for the job by the bookies.

After the first day of voting, former Brighton and Chelsea boss Potter came out on top, with 47% of Foxes fans hoping to see him appointed ahead of a return to the Premier League. The 49-year-old rejected an approach from City when he was first sacked from Stamford Bridge, although over a year away from the sport would have whetted his appetite for a return.

Potter is the bookies’ 3/1 second favorite for the Leicester job as things stand, behind West Bromwich Albion’s Carlos Corberan at 9/4. The roles were reversed in our survey, with 16% of Spanish placing it as second preference among our readers.

Close behind him in the vote was David Moyes, who has just left West Ham United a year after their Europa Conference League success in the capital. 15% of City supporters hope to see the Scot get the job at the King Power Stadium, although on Wednesday morning he dropped to 8/1 to succeed.

Coventry City’s Mark Robins was the last of the options to reach double figures, garnering 10% of the vote, with other options sharing minimal preferences among fans.
