Everton are taking a tough stance on star midfielder Manchester United

The 21-year-old centre-back has had an impressive season at Everton and is wanted by some of the Premier League’s top clubs this summer.

Manchester United are interested in taking him to Old Trafford as part of their squad overhaul in the next transfer window.

However, Everton’s £80m asking price is a drag and Manchester United’s initial bid is likely to be half that figure.

Everton are also keen on meeting their asking price for the talented young defender.

The Toffees do not want to be bullied into selling one of their best players just because of the club’s difficult financial situation.

Everton believe that, as part of the money paid for defenders in recent years, they are entitled to demand £80m for Branthwaite.
