College of St. Lawrence opens new Paramedic Simulation Center on Cornwall campus

St. Lawrence College (SLC) is proud to announce the opening of a new Paramedic Simulation Center on its Cornwall campus. The new donor-supported space will revolutionize the learning experience for future paramedics by providing them with advanced simulation capabilities. SLC will officially open the center with an unveiling event on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.

The renovated labs feature state-of-the-art equipment and technology, including video capture capabilities and simulated environments that replicate real-life emergency scenarios. These simulations will allow students to practice critical emergency response procedures in simulated real-world environments, more effectively preparing them for their clinical placements and future careers.

“As we unveil our new Paramedic Simulation Center, we are deeply grateful for the generosity of our donors, whose contributions have made this state-of-the-art facility a reality,” said Glenn Vollebregt, SLC President and CEO. “Their support not only enhances the educational experience of our students, but also strengthens our community’s emergency response capabilities. A heartfelt thank you to all who have made this investment in paramedic education.”

The new state-of-the-art Paramedic Simulation Center at St. Lawrence College will provide students with hands-on, real-world experience typically found only on larger metropolitan campuses,” said Tom McCarty, CFO of NuMED. “This new center will enable students to be trained to provide the greater Cornwall area with much-needed advanced paramedic services. The new learning facility was made possible by generous donations totaling $200,000. Donations include $100,000 from an anonymous benefactor, $50,000 from NuMED Canada Inc. and another $50,000 from the Tom and Gail Kaneb Family Foundation. These donations are part of SLC’s upgrade of health learning spaces in Kingston, Brockville and Cornwall, announced last spring.
