UK tourists face scorching 40C temperatures in Spain and Portugal

UK tourists heading to Spain and Portugal have been issued with an urgent warning as a dramatic 40C weather change is expected. Weather maps and charts show EU holiday favorites turning red as Brits prepare for their spring and summer getaways.

This week alone, temperatures are expected to approach 40°C, with highs of 38°C. Cities such as Seville could experience 37C, while Badajoz, near the border with Portugal, could see 36C, according to weather maps and charts from WX Charts, which uses Met Desk data.




The Algarve will sizzle at 37C, while Lisbon, Porto and Braga will be in the mid-thirties. In Spain, Malaga will be in the low thirties and Huelva could reach almost 40C, reports Birmingham Live.

This is a stark contrast to the current UK weather forecast. Temperatures hit 18C yesterday before dropping to 11C overnight.

Meanwhile, the mercury hit a high of 19C today (Wednesday, May 29). The Met Office said: “It remains changeable with a mix of cloudy spells, sunny spells and scattered showers.

“These heavy and frequent on Thursday. Drier and more settled since Friday. Feeling warm in the sun.”
