Justice catches up with ‘sexual predator’ who preyed on vulnerable teenager nearly 30 years ago – South London News

A man has been convicted of multiple sex offenses against a teenage girl who was praised for her “great courage” in speaking to police.

Colin Moore, 57, of Grove Lane, Southwark, was found guilty of four counts of rape and five counts of indecent assault following a trial at Isleworth Crown Court on Friday. Moore was remanded in custody ahead of sentencing at the same venue on September 9.

The court heard how Moore took advantage of the girl, who was under 16 when the offending began in 1995. Moore’s abuse took place over the next four years at locations in west and central London.

The girl, now an adult, came forward and reported the abuse to police in 2020. Moore was arrested and later charged with numerous crimes.

Detective Sergeant Laura Harcombe from Central West Command said: “Colin Moore is a sexual predator who manipulated and abused a vulnerable girl he knew.

“Even when he was interviewed, he tried to pass off his behavior in many circumstances as acceptable, something that couldn’t be further from the truth.

“This woman has shown great courage to come forward and report the abuse she suffered over an extended period of time to the police.

“We have specially trained officers who have supported her throughout this process and I can only hope that Moore’s conviction will bring her some form of closure.”
