Irish Films at Sheffield Doc Fest 2024

Ross Killeen’s Don’t Forget to Remember and Nathan Fagan’s Inside, The Valley Sings have been selected for Sheffield Doc Fest 2024.

Irish director Ross Killeen Don’t forget to remember will have its international premiere at Sheffield Doc Fest 2024. The film was made in collaboration with artist Asbestos with funding from the Arts Council of Ireland through the renowned Reel Art Scheme.

Don’t forget to remember follows the artist, Asbestos, as he learns to cope with the faded memories of his mother. While memories are fragile, the essence of their bond remains firm.

β€œIt is a privilege to be selected for Sheffield Doc Fest. It is such a prestigious festival and a great platform for us to showcase the film.” Principal Killeen said. “We wanted to make a film that would start conversations about a subject that is a difficult thing to talk about and we’re really excited to bring it to a wider international audience in Sheffield.”

Don’t forget to remember it is a homeland production. It was produced by Louise Byrne, edited by Vincent McEntee, shot by Narayan Van Maele, with Sound Design and original music by James Latimer. The film had its world premiere at the Dublin International Film Festival, where it won the Audience Choice Award and an Honorable Mention from the Festival Jury.

Inside, the Valley Sings is a short documentary that follows three people who are each in long-term isolation in the United States. Through hand-drawn animation, the short explores how they construct elaborate fantasy worlds to escape their daily reality.

The short film was co-directed by Irish filmmaker Nathan Fagan and animator Natasza Cetner and will have its world premiere at Sheffield Doc Fest.

Nathan Fagan co-directed Mud Queen with Luke Daly, who was recently nominated for an IFTA.

Inside, the Valley Sings was produced by Seamus Waters, with sound from Die Hexen.

Sheffield Doc Fest 2024 will take place from 12th to 17th June 2024.
