Rishi Sunak carries a £750 rucksack on the overnight train to Cornwall

Rishi Sunak was spotted carrying a £750 rucksack as he boarded a train to Cornwall. The Prime Minister was pictured with a luxury Tumi bag personalized with his initials ‘RS’ as he took bedroom duty in Penzance today (Wednesday 29 May).

According to The Mirror, the bag is believed to be the Tumi Arrive Bradley Backpack. It retails for £750 in high-end stores including Selfridges.

After arriving in Cornwall, Mr Sunak faced questions about why he was taking matching funds from the county to pay for his national service plan. The scheme could deprive some of Britain’s poorest areas of money for community safety and high street regeneration.

Cornwall is among the areas with the most to lose from the closure of the UK’s Shared Prosperity Fund. However, Mr Sunak insisted he was “absolutely committed” to leveling up in Cornwall.

He told Cornwall Live: “I’m absolutely determined to level up in Cornwall. Our track record, whether it’s investment in high streets and town centers – Penzance, Truro, St Ives, Camborne – or whether it’s the huge investment in Royal Cornwall. The hospital for the new women’s and children’s unit, the outpatient unit coming here (Penzance), or new diagnostic centers just over Cornwall, or the Mid Cornwall Metro, for example.

“This investment will always continue under a Conservative government. When it comes to national service, I think it will be transformative for young people and society in Cornwall and indeed the country. Why? Because it will give young people skills and opportunities that will serve them well in life. It will promote a culture of service and make us a more cohesive society and strengthen our country’s resilience and security. It will become a rite of passage for people and change the country for the better.

“Today’s announcement on apprenticeships, which will mean we close low-performing degrees that are failing young people and use that money to create 100,000 high-quality apprenticeships. You talk about low wages, the best way to raise people’s wages, as I was. talking to apprentices this morning is about building amazing careers.”
